The mission of the Auditor General of Québec is to promote, through audit, parliamentary control over public funds and other public property. For this purpose, he produces reports in which he conveys to interested persons his findings, comments and recommendations. His contribution consists of promoting rigorous and transparent reporting when it comes to financial and performance information. It was in 1867 that the position today held by the Auditor General of Québec was created. At that time, the position-holder was known as the "Auditor of the Province". Following the reform of financial administration, which occurred in 1970, this title was replaced with that of "Auditor General". As for the Auditor General Act, it entered into force in 1985. The Auditor General is appointed by the National Assembly
for a 10-year non-renewable term of office upon a motion made by the Premier and
